Welcome to the new face of Dentrix. Many of you may have been expecting version 12. But G2 is not just another release of Dentrix. It is much, much more and therfore wouldn't fit into the same old mold. The changes in the Chart and Treatment Planner were done in response to the numerous requests that we have received, and they are based on the latest in software programming technology. This new technology will become the platform foundation for future software updates. This platform will allow us to serve you, our customers, better than ever before.

As the Product Line Manager for Dentrix, I really think you are going to like what you see. If you want to get in on the action, sign up early for the beta. We expect the list of qualified beta sites to fill up fast. If beta is not your thing, that's OK. But stay tuned for the Next Generation in Dental Practice Management -- coming soon to a computer near you!

I really like the idea of revamping the charting/treatment planning for Dentrix. There are many things that could be improved for offices that use the charting/treatment planning areas...I just wonder if the new G2 (Generation Two?) version will be better or present more problems. Not trying to be negative, just a realist. By the way, I hope the beta testing goes well and the G2 version is released in record time. Not real sure what's in store for the treatment planning portion, but there should be a place to coordinate the treatment into appointment as well. For instance, there needs to be a place to put what treatment needs to be done, the order, and the amount of time for each appointment. That way you don't have to write down the number of appointments/time/order, etc on paper, the front staff can see it in the treatment coordinator section for each patient.

I attempt to give my patients all their treatment options, and look forward to improving the presentations.

I want to be a beta tester but I can't validate my ID #. I put the customer ID and serial # correctly. What's going on? Paul kcjonz@mindspring.com

Great comments. As you will soon come to learn, Charting and Treatment Planning are just the first step in the complete transformation of Dentrix. When the Appointment Book goes through it's similar transformation, the links between treatment planning and appointment scheduling will also be transformed. We understand the business flow and what can be done to make appointment scheduling easier. We do plan to address this! On a side note, we showed the first glimpses of G2 to many of our customers at the Chicago midwinter show over the last few days. The comments from our customers were overwhelmingly positive. ~Michael

I'll check on this. We have had people successfully submit their requests to be beta sites. In the meantime, I will e-mail you to get your contact and practice information so our beta coordinator can contact you directly. ~Michael

If you are experiencing problems signing into the beta site area, please send your information (serial number, customer id, and zip code) to rproctor@dentrix.com. I can help you out.

Linking the appointment book with the treatment planning is a great way to assist scheduling!

[Linking the appointment book with the treatment planning is a great way to assist scheduling!] It seems like many of you are thinking along the same lines. See my post on 2/26 with regards to linking the treatment planning with the appointment book. Thanks for you comments and willingness to post. ~Michael

Will training in the future include issues of the G2 software version? Myoffice is going to advantage course in late May 2006. Does the interface make the system slower from overhead of color, graphics, etc?

Training will include information on G2. In fact, the Advantage Seminars running right now include advanced information on the new components of G2. System performance will be dependent on your hardware, network setup and Dentrix configuration. In order to provide many of the requested features, the updated components of G2 were written utilizing .NET and C#. Programming using these technologies does require more system memory and are more graphic intensive than what was needed for Dentrix 11.0. However, we are doing everything we can not to sacrifice performance for features and will be spending a considerable amount of time optimizing the new components. Thanks for your comments. ~Michael
